Youth Workforce Development Program
As the museum reopens after its closure due to COVID-19, we are leveraging the assets of the organization to invest in young people in Greensboro and throughout the county. The creation of Guest Services Associates roles at the museum will provide youths who face one or more barrier to employment the opportunity to gain unique and significant work experience serving our many guests (community members, museum visitors, workshop participants, resident artists). Guest Relations Associates will work 280 hours over 7-14 weeks at $15/hour. They will then be considered for ongoing staff positions or will receive job placement assistance.
Through our partnership with Guilford Works, participating youths will have access to a wide range of resources, including career planning counseling, skills assessment, resume building, GED preparation, transportation and childcare assistance, leadership development, and assistance with job searches.
In order to be eligible, applicants must be 16-24 years old, live in Guilford county, and meet at least one of following barriers to employment criteria: dropped out of high school, low income, criminal background, pregnant or parenting, basic skills deficient, homeless or housing insecure, disabled, foster care, english language learner, needs assistance with finding a career path and future.
This program is generously supported by The Cemala Foundation and Guilford Works. Guilford County Schools is acting as a key partner in recruiting participants. Additional individual sponsors and business sponsors are needed to support this program - if you are interested in sponsoring this program, please contact Matthew at executive@goelsewhere.org or call 336.907.3271.
