A is for Elsewhere | Steven Lang
A is for Elsewhere is a photo book project which functions both as a visual diary of Lang's experience at Elsewhere and as a showcase for the Elsewhere Serial typeface he developed during his residency. To create the typeface Lang used a photo scanner to capture 26 letters and four punctuation marks from a variety of objects chosen from the collection. The idea behind the project was to create a “portable Elsewhere” which, whether as a usable typeface or in book form, would serve as distilled visual narrative of time and place. The project is intended to be visually representative of the Elsewhere experience.
