Jared Brown (Productions Assistant) is an electronics engineer, builder and former espresso machine mechanic from Virginia. He believes that learning is done by not just reading the writing on the wall but by playing with these words and even dissecting the wall itself.

Billy Ghayas
Billy Ghayas (Operations Assistant and jack of all trades) / An old soul experiencing life to the fullest, currently studying in a pre-med discipline focusing on psychology at the University of North Carolina- Wilmington. Previous exertions in the artistic field include carrying out street art activities and an internship with Nike in NYC. Future endeavors comprise designing an apparel line and continuing creative processes in a more classic sense with an interest in the connectivity of the universe and exploration of the mind, body, and soul.
Paul Howe
Intern 2012
Paul Howe is the Commissioner of The Bureau of Maintenance, Repair, and Rebuilding. "The Bureau of Maintenance, Repair, and Rebuilding is a public service dedicated to improving the health of our infrastructures, machines, and commodities, because we believe that the health of these things is at the root of our political, economic, and cultural health." He is also a turnkey creative infrastructure developer. He received his education from Cynthia Parry, Drew Goerlitz, John Hock, and Andy Dunnill, and is currently pursuing a doctorate in home repair and bellying through muddy crawlspaces under the wisdom of Hernan Durango.
Building Curator 2013
Paul is a sculptor, builder, re-arranger, and maintenance expert. He fixes public infrastructure for free, engineers off the cuff, and believes that the value of a thing lies in the stuff it is of, not its decorations, though decorations are okay sometimes. He has worked at Franconia Sculpture Park in Minnesota, has exhibited his publicly scaled sculptures up and down the east coast and midwest, and has built two wood fired pizza ovens. He holds a BFA from SUNY Plattsburgh, and an MFA in sculpture from UNCG.

Elizabeth Thompson
Elizabeth Thompson, education intern at Elsewhere, loves creative, collaborative, and interdisciplinary pedagogical approaches. She is completing a MA in folklore at UNC-Chapel Hill, where she has been learning about the power of artistic performance as it relates to constructions of identity and community from labor singing ensembles and roller derby skaters. She is a collector of stories, friend to all creatures, and an existentialist of the everyday.
Benjamin Boyles
Benjamin Aaron Boyles/ Video Intern
Ben is a multidisciplinary artist from Winston-Salem NC. He is currently finishing a BA in Media Studies at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In addition to film and animation he is also passionate about art, philosophy, religion, psychology, and most any form of music. Bridging the gaps between fields of study and understanding the interconnected nature of the universe excites Ben. He is DJ Extra at the college radio station WUAG 103.1, works for the Carolina Film and Video Festival, and is the President of UNCG's all male accapella group The Spartones. Avid instagramer, lover of bad pop culture, and amateur Tai Chi and Yoga practitioner he strives to get the best out of life and leave the rest behind.
Sallie Oliver
Sallie Oliver is a building intern who enjoys long moonlit walks on the beach and things with shiny qualities. She enjoys designing promotional material for musicians of all genres in form of gig posters, backdrops, and album covers. At 19 years of age she aspires to work in the creative art sector of a record label in New York City. These days, you can find her in a pile of amazing vintage clothes on the 2nd floor.
Virginia Yarboro
Virginia Yarboro, Education Intern, is an artist from Goldsboro, NC studying studio art, linguistics, and religion at Middlebury College. She is an avid collector of accents and children’s stories from around the world. By investigating imagery closely tied to childhood—especially wallpaper patterns and children’s book illustrations—Virginia aspires to maximize the potential of nostalgic art to engage with viewers. A master of playlist-making and Pokemon, she gets inspiration from Madeline, bookshelves, clothing, pixellation, embroidery, places of worship, and avocados. Ten years from now, you may find her illustrating books or farming sheep. Hopefully both.
Cynthia Cukiernik
Cynthia Cukiernik / Education Intern is a student and artist currently living in Greensboro North Carolina. Cynthia attends the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she is completing her Bachelors degree in Anthropology. Concepts of material culture, family history, story telling, cultural identity and memory inspire both her art and her research. Cynthia loves books, gardens, old photographs, hand made objects and small artifacts. While at elsewhere, she will working to catalog the Living Library as well as physically negotiating with the book collection.
Nicole Lane
An ex-ballerina and a self-proclaimed fashionista, Nicole Lane is the productions intern here at the living museum, Elsewhere. She finds solace in the depths of darkroom chemicals, extended exposures and over-priced Halloween masks. With her constant theme of identity and her skill of obnoxious laughing, Nicole will receive a BA in traditional photography at Guilford College in 2013.
Isabella Martin
Isabella Martin is an artist and writer hailing from the far distant lands of Norwich, England. Her work seeks to explore the potential of words in relation to spatial experience. She graduated from Brighton University of Art in 2010 with a degree in Fine Art Sculpture and since then has exhibited nationally and internationally. Since being released into the real world she’s worked as an artist in various projects worldwide from museum interpretation to urban regeneration. Following the same route she’s found her way to Elsewhere, to continue exploring and questioning, acclimatising to big America, telling bad jokes and hopefully getting a few good waves on the way.
Dana Robinson
From the swamps of Florida, Dana Robinson has spent her life taking things apart, scrambling them and putting them back together. With her army of Frankenstein art, she has collected a BFA in Design from Florida State University as well as a variety of life skills such as drawing, designing, and obsessive organizing that have brought her to the door step of Elsewhere. She hopes to spread her love of design across the hemispheres.
Madelon McClure
Madelon McClure / Operations Intern is a class of ’12 undergraduate from Guilford College with a B.A. in fine art (printmaking concentration) and psychology. Madelon is an avid indie card game aficionado, mint tin collector, and enthusiastic thrift store adventurer. Given her tendency to accumulate trivial knowledge, and sentimental objects, she was immediately drawn to Elsewhere’s unique aesthetic and artistic practices. Her dreams currently include to one day make her own web-comic,learn how to play with fire, and attend graduate school for arts management.
Abby Helton
Abby Helton is a Greensboro girl born and raised, which is why she's so excited to finally be involved in her favorite local artist collective as the Communications intern for the summer. She loves collecting, collaging, and covering everything in beeswax. Abby is a student at Appalachian State and in the fall of 2013 will receive her BFA in studio art with a concentration in Drawing and Painting.
Lauren Traugott-Campbell
Lauren Traugott-Campbell / Productions Intern is a baby animal enthusiast and avid crafter. Hailing from Carrboro, NC, she graduated from UNC Chapel Hill in 2011 and has been traveling and exploring documentary arts since.
Bianca Kolendo
Bianca Kolendo / Building Intern likes eating sweets and being sweet. Recently graduated from George Mason University, Bianca intends to start an animation/production company with her brother, Dominik (look for Team Kolendo) and unrealistically dreams of opening a bakery-bar.

Valerie is an artist and administrator interested in the intersection of public programs and creative fields. She also worked with the North Carolina Entrepreneurship Center at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and holds a BA in Communications & Media and focus in Arts Administration from Goucher College in Baltimore, MD.
Valerie also worked as Operations Curator from 2011-2012 and as a Documentarian Intern and Assistant to the Directors from 2010-2011.
