Vajazzle in the Kitchen | Brenda Oelbaum

Over the course of her residency, Brenda Oelbaum investigated Elsewhere’s collection of costume jewelry and loose beads, carefully sorting, untangling and artfully recombining it, as a meditation on the feminine allure of bodily ornament. One of the pieces she created as part of this speculative engagement was a bejeweled vulva that now lives in Elsewhere’s kitchen, which takes feminist artist Judy Chicago’s famous 1970’s Dinner Party as it’s point of inspiration.
