Sylvie Award

Join Elsewhere, April 13, 2019, in honoring Nancy Doll, Director of the Weatherspoon Museum of Art, at the home of Gail Boulton.

The Sylvie Award Recognizes local and national collaboration and experimentation in the arts, humanities, and creative industries. The Sylvie is named in memory of Sylvia Gray, collector and proprietress, whose 60 year inventory of cultural surplus and thrift is the foundation for Elsewhere's museum and residency.Nancy is a champion and advocate, helping grow Elsewhere from an emerging arts experiment to a nationally recognized residency and museum. Understanding that an expanded and energized artistic community would enrich Greensboro and its understanding of contemporary art, Nancy embraced  Elsewhere's vision through ongoing participation, service, and advocacy. Nancy's commitment to Elsewhere and the arts in Greensboro's is matched only by her leadership in the field of contemporary art and museums nationally. We are pleased to honor her collaboration and leadership with this inaugural Sylvie Award.Funds received through this event will establish Elsewhere's Directors Fund to support creative initiatives, experiments, and programming initiated by Elsewhere's Creative and Executive Directors.
