Stitched Together, 2015, armchair stuffing and upholstery

For Stitched Together, Robert Lach sculpted a nesting colony for the skylight in the third floor stairwell with materials picked from the skeleton of an old tattered armchair. Taking a bird’s eye point of view on the museum and its materials, his project brings attention to the creative re-use tactics of the animal kingdom and whimsically imagines how a flock of swallows might inhabit the space.
