Second Chance: The Creative Impulse of the Judicially Challenged

A National Second Chance Month Pop-up Exhibition by The Reentry Expert and Elsewhere

April 1-9, 2022

A collaboration between The Re-entry Expert and Elsewhere, Second Chance is a community showcase of the creative spirit of those who are judicially challenged, a preferred term for those who are formerly incarcerated. This pop-up exhibit will present artwork of all kinds, including cars and live music. The exhibition will also feature products and services of businesses that have been created as a way to circumvent the barriers faced by those who are judicially challenged.

  • Table talk sessions will allow visitors to sit down one on one with someone who is formerly incarcerated to converse and ask questions as a way to destigmatize incarceration.

  • Judicially Triumphant Awards recognize leadership in our community on behalf of the judicially challenged.

  • Car Show on S. Elm Street in front of Elsewhere

  • Rapper Monster T.U.N. will perform live on Elsewhere’s Front Window Stage [ReverbNation; Facebook; Soundcloud]

Anyone who is formerly incarcerated is welcome to display their work or vend. They can share their interest here.

Produced by Victor Vincent and Matthew Giddings (who met in Guilford Non-profit Consortium Executive Leadership program!)

Monster T.u.n., born David Earl Thorne Jr, is more than your average dope boy turned rapper. Actually he is best described simply as a survivor. Music has always been a part of his life but not as much as the streets and all its influences. A fan of all genres of music he can not be compared 2 any other artist, and, in North Carolina, he is the self proclaimed King Of The Hill.
