Read-In
On August 8, 2012 the Greensboro Historical Museum, the International Civil Rights Museum and Elsewhere held a Read-In in conjunction with the Greensboro Historical Museum’s Fighting the Fires of Hate: America and the Nazi Book Burnings, a traveling exhibition from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. The Read-In aimed to commemorate the authors of burned books, raise question of oppression, and celebrate freedom of expression through a day-long public reading that traveled across downtown Greensboro. "Read-Ins" are an initiative of Elsewhere's Living Library encouraging reading in public spaces and activating new possibilities for shared wisdom in Greensboro and beyond.
