Object Obituaries | Beth Cohen

During her stay at Elsewhere, Beth Cohen acted as the museum’s resident obituary writer, collecting imaginative stories from visitors and staff alike that consider the lives and deaths of a variety of objects in the collection. She also created a station at the museum for visitors to continue logging obituary templates in preparation for the eventual death of Elsewhere’s things. By completing obituary templates, visitors are given the opportunity to closely consider individual objects and how they came to the museum, as well as their personal and cultural significances.
