Flannery’s Bunker | Martha Whittington

martha-4.jpg

A reinstallation of the museum’s collection of military surplus as a display of historical artifacts. Whittington has included a gallery of newly polished mess kits that have been artfully engraved by WWII soldiers, including “Flannery” for whom the work has been named. These items came to the museum in the mid 1940s when the Gray Family ran a catalog business called “Carolina Sales.”
