2022 Alumni Buddies interest form

Purpose:

Provide current artists in residence opportunities to grow their network, to receive additional guidance and support for their site-specific projects, and to have a sympathetic ear for whatever they want to talk about.
Provide alumni artists opportunities to reconnect with Elsewhere and their residency experience, to provide insights and critical input that supports current residents’ developing projects.
Bring more attention to the current artists in residence, their projects, and related events (Artist Talk, Workshop, and Happening).

The Match:

Random - we put names in a hat, literally or figuratively, to randomly assign the volunteering alumnus with a current resident. What is not random is that each alumnus is someone who is passionate about their own artistic practice, supporting the practices of other artists, and their Elsewhere residency experience.

The Commitment:

One Hour - Each pair meets by phone, Zoom, or, in the rarest of cases that it is possible, in person. They meet for an hour and are provided with some suggested framing questions, but can talk about whatever they want.
Each alumnus is encouraged to attend and participate in their buddy’s Artist Talk (Saturday, day 3 of residency), Workshop (Saturday, two weeks into the residency), and Happening (first friday of the following month, four weeks into the residency), whether virtually or in person, and to help promote the events.

What do Alumni Buddies get?

We are still working this out. So far we have created an Alumni Buddy badge to put on the bottom of their Elsewhere profile and have discussed making an alumni buddy t-shirt. We’ll come up with something fun that will most likely come in the mail!
